MY TWO CENTS:
I like to travel!
You’re probably thinking that seems like an odd way to start our most recent edition of MY TWO CENTS (MTC)…especially after such a long hiatus. And, you’d be right! It is odd and, yet, it’s what gave me some of the inspiration to get back to writing MTC!
When I say “I like to travel,” what I mean is that I like to experience new things around this amazing creation. I like to see new sights, visit new places, meet new people, try new food, and feel different cultures. I like to get out of my “bubble” now and again!
While all of those travel experiences are fun and exciting for me to dream about, our family is at a stage of life that makes it difficult to prioritize those opportunities. We are having an absolute ball being engaged with our kids’ activities, doing life with families in similar situations, and watching our children learn and grow into amazing young people and, eventually, loving and productive adults. We wouldn’t change it for the world!
In a recent conversation with a wonderful client, I asked her to be sure to post and share lots of pictures from her upcoming travel excursions. I mentioned that, in our stage of life, I liked to live vicariously through my clients who are traveling and enjoying beautiful, memory-making experiences. She caught me off guard a bit when she said something to the effect of, “You know that I like to live vicariously through your posts and pictures of your family, right? For those of us who don’t have kids, it’s fun to be able to watch you raise yours.”
What a wonderful reminder that we all have areas of our life that can bless others if we’re willing to share them. We’re in this thing called life together, and a willingness to be transparent and open with both our joys and our sorrows brings us to a spot of truly appreciating each other. And let me just say, I CANNOT properly express my gratitude for the opportunity to serve such wonderful people that are willing to share with me, and allow me to share with them!!
Make it a great week!
