MY TWO CENTS:
I don’t know about you, but this week has been a bit of a whirlwind for me. We hit Friday and I wondered how we got here so fast!
In the hustle and bustle of “to-do” lists, events, and activities, it didn’t dawn on me until a social media post reminded me that we celebrate Veteran’s Day on Friday of this week. What struck me today over so many prior Veteran’s Days was that this picture was of my little brother serving at his post in a Navy submarine in the middle-to-late 1990s. He looked so young in the picture that it made me chuckle considering the level of responsibility he had at that age and stage of his life.
We have quite a few family members, friends, clients, colleagues, and acquaintances that have served in the United States Armed Forces at some point in their lives. I’ve always been grateful for their decision to serve their country in that way. Some folks were drafted, but many made a specific choice to submit their own plans and delay immediate opportunities to protect the country that allow us all to live so freely. Some served their single enlistment and others made a career of this service.
Reflecting on this today has made me all the more grateful for our veteran’s. I’m glad for the reminder on this special day, and need to make a point of sharing my gratitude more openly the rest of the year. Please join me by offering a huge “THANK YOU!” to all of the veteran’s in our lives!
Make it a great week!
